Equipment for Hydroponic Growing
Most setups need a few core items. The list below covers categories rather than products, so you can compare options for your system.
Core Equipment
- Reservoir or container: opaque, so light does not reach the solution.
- Net cups and growing medium: hold plants in place. Media options include rockwool, coconut coir and clay pebbles.
- Lighting: see the Lighting guide.
- Nutrients: a fertilizer made for hydroponics.
- Meters: a pH meter or test kit and an EC or TDS meter.
Systems That Need Power
- Air pump and air stone: for DWC and some other systems.
- Submersible pump and timer: for NFT, ebb and flow and drip.
